Columbus Public Health Commissioner Dr. Mysheika Roberts was removed from the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. She was one of 17 people who were dismissed Monday from the committee by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The Centers for Disease Control said the rate of kindergarteners exempted from school vaccinations has hit the highest level ever at a national average of 3%.

The Center's for Disease Control has issued an update that shortens the recommended isolation and quarantine period for people with COVID-19 but still recommends masking. An Ohio Health official is worried people will not follow the masking guidelines.

The variant known as B.1.1.7, which is more easily spread, was first identified in England last fall. Since then, it has spread quickly in the U.S.

Guidance released Friday allows fully vaccinated people to travel domestically without getting tested or self-quarantining, but advises them to keep practicing mitigation measures to protect others.
