Important information about Airfare
Throughout 2022, WOSU Public Media celebrated its centennial of service. From being the first radio station on-air in Columbus in 1922 to today serving more than 2 million Central Ohioans through radio, TV, digital, education and in-person engagement, the roots of today’s public media system run strong through WOSU. And that’s in large part thanks to you, our loyal and valued member base whose support ensures we continue to provide our mission-driven programming.
One of WOSU’s values is intentional innovation, and we live that value in service to the community we serve. Over the last 100 years, WOSU has changed as media itself has changed. From the earliest days of wireless Morse code, to being one of the few radio broadcasts airing diverse voices in the 20’s, to helping hundreds of thousands of students access education via radio during the Great Depression.
More recently, WOSU was among the first stations to switch to HD broadcasts, to launch a website, to debut a mobile app. For the many of you who have had the opportunity to visit WOSU’s new headquarters, you have seen firsthand the expanded newsroom, state-of-the-art TV studios and production suites, and the variety of in-person events, performances and forums we are offering in our community studio.
As we turn the page to a new calendar year and enter our second century of service, it’s time to reflect on how we continue to best serve you and the Central Ohio community.
One of the decisions we have made together as WOSU leadership is to discontinue publishing the print Airfare programming guide. The final printed issue will be published in May 2023. We hope we can count on you to understand that we very carefully considered many factors – key among them the increasing costs of print production and the uncontrollable delays that often occur with mail delivery – and have determined that our resources are better used serving you in other ways.
The great news is that you can easily access the most accurate program schedules for WOSU TV, 89.7 NPR News and Classical 101 any time at wosu.org and on the WOSU mobile app. If you have any questions or need help locating these schedules online, you can reach out to our membership team at members@wosu.org.
As we always have, WOSU is changing, growing, and innovating.
