One of the victims, 58-year-old Mark Rayburn-Velco, was pronounced dead at 7:58 a.m. The second victim was taken to a hospital and was listed as critical, but is expected to recover.
Rayburn-Velco’s son is charged with murder and felonious assault.
Rayburn-Velco was a senior IT project manager with Ohio State and he worked for the university for more than four years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in German studies prior to his employment with Ohio State.
Ohio State spokesperson Ben Johnson said in a statement, “Ohio State is mourning the loss of colleague and friend, Mark Rayburn-Velco, who passed away on Sunday, May 24.
