Charges have been filed against an Ohio State University student authorities said was caught on camera urinating on a Pride flag at a home in the Weinland Park area and made slurs against the LGBTQ+ community.

Trey Fetzer faces multiple charges, including criminal mischief, ethnic intimidation, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing, according to documents filed with the Franklin County Municipal Court. All of the charges are classified as misdemeanors.

Authorities said the incident happened on the night of Thursday, Feb. 8. Surveillance video of the incident was posted to the social media platform Reddit on Sunday, Feb. 11.

Columbus police investigated the incident as a hate crime.

Ohio State University spokesperson Ben Johnson said the university does not comment on specific criminal cases, but said the university doesn't tolerate hateful actions of any kind.

"Ohio State does not tolerate discrimination, harassment or vandalism of any kind. Working together with city partners, we strive to create a safe and welcoming community on and off campus," Johnson said.

The video shows two men walking up to the house. One man wearing a blue sweatshirt, who was allegedly Fetzer, exposed himself, which was blurred in the video, and urinated on the Pride flag on the porch, while holding up his middle finger and yelled homophobic remarks.

Another man, wearing a red sweatshirt, is seen recording the incident on his phone and laughing. Fetzer then hit the house twice, before both men ran away laughing.

According to court documents, the victims who lived at the home did not know Fetzer or the second individual, who has not yet been identified.

Court documents also stated Fetzer attempted to apologize after the incident was reported to police.

Fetzer has not been arrested in connection with the case, but has been summoned to appear in court.
