Ohio State fans wanting to buy season tickets for some of the best seats at home football games will pay extra for that access beginning in 2022, to help fund athletic scholarships.
The tiered ticket plan that trustees approved Thursday requires a per-seat contribution of up to $1,500 to the Buckeye Club in addition to the ticket price for top-tier seats at Ohio Stadium.
Season tickets for the 2022 season will range from $710 up to $1,287 under the plan. The Buckeyes will open the 2022 season at home against Norte Dame. Student season tickets will not be impacted by the changes and will remain at $34 per game.
Ohio State Athletics director Gene Smith says the new ticket plan is more in line with what other large schools do, and will lower season ticket prices in less desirable sections.

He says the change isn’t related to his department’s revenue deficit from the pandemic, which is estimated at $60 million this year.
Ohio State also said it is continuing to work with state and local health officials to develop protocols for fan attendance at games this fall for the 2021 season. Once more details become available, Ohio State will send regarding season ticket renewals and seat selection timelines and processes.
