Columbus City Council on Monday night will vote on investing nearly $500,000 in Franklin County's specialty docket programs.
Franklin County Municipal Court is home to five specialized programs that focus on diversion over incarceration. They serve specific populations, including veterans and those whose crimes are tied to mental health problems or substance use disorders.
One prominent program is designed for victims of human trafficking. CATCH Court has served as a national model for court systems around the country.
If approved by City Council, the funds would be transferred from the 2020 general fund budget. Money would cover personnel costs, materials and other services.
