Columbus Department Fire officials report an explosion and fire at a south side home this morning left 2 people injured. It happened at 829 Lock Avenue before 10:30. Officials say a man and a girl were inside the house when the explosion occurred. They were taken to area hospitals and are expected to survive.

Battalion Chief Tracy Smith says the home is a total loss.

"It is on the ground.  Our crews are still here trying to put out active fire spots, obviously because of the home being leveled, it's got multiple layers to it.  So we're still here actively fighting fires."

No word yet on what caused the explosion.
