Cherry Creek Church of Christ's roof caught fire early Monday morning due to a suspected lightning strike as severe storms rolled through central Ohio.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Brian Barnhart said a neighbor saw lightning strike the building around midnight.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom around 11 p.m. Sunday. Two men who were at the Railhouse Bar in the East Market then noticed that the roof was on fire.

The no-cost Mid-Ohio Market on Norton Road caught on fire early Tuesday morning. The Columbus Fire Department and the Mid-Ohio Food Collective are still working together to figure out what caused the fire.

The home sits in a neighborhood between Gender Road and Tussing Road on the city's southeast side.

A Columbus City building inspection report lists structural and water damage, and says plaster is falling from the ceilings. The large manor was built in 1852.

The house was built in 1852 by Fernando Kelton and his wife, Sophia. The Junior League of Columbus has operated it as a museum since 1979.

A train struck a low-hanging communications wire Tuesday on Shanahan Road just north of Lewis Center. The incident caused power lines to be taken down and a grass fire to erupt nearby.
