Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine touted the results of Columbus' vaccination cash program as a model that other communities around the state could use to help boost lagging vaccination rates.
During a Friday press conference, DeWine shared the results of the Columbus' Vax Cash program which started last month.
The week before the program started, Columbus Public Health administered 253 vaccinations. The first week of the program they had 963 vaccinations. Two weeks later, it jumped to 1,826. Last week, he said they reported 1,814 vaccinations.
DeWine said the state will continue to support creative local efforts to get people vaccinated.
"Last night as I said, I spoke with our health commissioners and told them we want to support their efforts no matter what they want to do," he said.
The Vax Cash program will continue until August 16, with Columbus Health setting up clinics at 10 locations across the city.
