A suspect is due in court Monday after a deadly shooting inside the Mall at Tuttle Crossing on Sunday.

Police said Dontarius Sylvester, 25, died after being shot inside the Sole Shop store.

“It’s concerning because they’re obviously highly-populated locations. But this appears to be an isolated incident,” Columbus Division of Police Sgt. Joe Albert said in a press conference outside the mall.

Holly Rankin also spoke to reporters in the mall parking lot. She said she was in the dressing room at a nearby store when shots rang out. Employees helped her and other customers flee the mall.

“I just wanted to get out of the mall, if I had to run or whatever. It’s just like so many things, like your life and what you’ve wanted to accomplished…it just goes through your mind,” Rankin said.

The suspect in the shooting, Tyrone Gray, Jr., 24, was arrested shortly after. He faces one charge of murder and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
