'As High As We've Ever Seen': Doctor's Warning About COVID Hospitalizations

"Hospitalizations are as high as we've ever seen them," warns Dr. Peter Margolis of Cincinnati Children's Hospital when discussing what the city faces when battling the COVID-19 pandemic. It's a stark warning as our county braces for a new threat.

Hamilton County could soon turn purple on the state's health advisory map if current COVID-19 trends continue, according to the county's health commissioner. Purple is the most severe level.

The number of patients admitted to hospitals with COVID-19 has gone from 90 a few weeks ago to more than 200 now.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the rising cases in our region is James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence Co-Director and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Professor of Pediatrics Peter Margolis, MD, Ph.D. Dr. Margolis was just elected a member of the National Academies of Medicine.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
