Patient Receives First Dose In UC COVID-19 Vaccine Trial
A patient in Cincinnati has now received the first dose in a clinical trial of a COVID-19 vaccine. Clinicians at UC Health and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine administered the first dose to Jarelle Marshall, an IT professional who lives in Cincinnati. Before UC's trial, New Horizons Clinical Research in Blue Ash began a trial of the Moderna mRNA-1273 vaccine in July.
UC and New Horizons are among approximately 90 sites across the U.S. selected for the study. The COVID-19 vaccine candidate known as mRNA-1273 is made by the U.S. biotech company Moderna and developed in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health.
Jarelle Marshall joins Cincinnati Edition to discuss his participation in this study.
Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
