Governor Andy Beshear entered office in December, unseating an unpopular incumbent and with plans to bolster education in the state. But so far, most of the first part of his tenure's early days has been swallowed by the coronavirus.

His daily briefings through the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic were must-see TV (or Facebook stream), and his catchphrases like "You can't be doin' that," garnered a fanbase on social media.

Kentucky was a model state in mitigating the virus, but like many others is seeing an uptick in its confirmed positive counts.

Now, Kentucky is preparing for back-to-school, expanding the reopening of its economy, and dealing with a slow response to unemployment assistance.

Governor Beshear joins Cincinnati Edition to talk about the latest.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
