The year 2020 will make 100 years since American women won the right to vote in U.S. presidential elections. While many thoughts of the suffragist movement gin up images of civil protests, there was much more going on in the fight for progress before 1920.
In the new book, And Yet They Persisted: How American Women Won the Right to Vote, author Dr. Johanna Neuman creates a fuller picture of the history, including why it took so long for women to have equal access to ballots in the U.S., why 1920 did not mark the end of the fight for African American women, and more.
