Two 14-year-old freshmen at Ignite Academy in Erlanger appeared in juvenile court Tuesday after they allegedly made threats to shoot up their school this week.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department says both students are charged with terroristic threatening in the 2nd degree, a Class D felony. They are being held at the Campbell Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
Police say school staff notified resource officer Deputy Don Taylor Monday afternoon. A news release says Deputy Taylor interviewed one of the students and his parents in their Taylor Mill home. He says the student admitted to making the threats but said he was joking.
At the other student's home in Hebron, the 14-year-old showed investigators a Snapchat post he sent to other students. It said, "Don't come to school tomorrow," accompanied by a green gun emoji and a dynamite emoji.
These are the second and third juveniles arrested in less than a week in Boone Co. for making terroristic threats, WCPO reports.
