A Changing Strategy For A Growing School District

The return to class is just a week away for students in the Cincinnati Public School District and this year CPS is accommodating far more young people than anticipated.

Ohio's third-largest school district was expecting 26,000 students in 2019, but there are 36,000 students enrolled this year. That's why Chief Communications Officer Lauren Worley says the district needs a strategic plan that not only guides growth but makes sure students have expanded opportunities.

Superintendent Laura Mitchell laid out that three-year strategic plan on Friday. Many of the changes students will see right away are focused on safety and improving attendance. Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the plan are Cincinnati Public Schools Superintendent Laura Mitchell; and School Board Member Ryan Messer.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
