A Surge In Deadly Shootings, A Contender To Mitch, Plus More Top Stories

Thirty-two people have been shot and killed in our area this year. The mother of one of those victims, a 14-year-old, came to police headquarters on Thursday as Chief Eliot Isaac and Mayor John Cranley addressed the surge in violence. Though shootings are down compared with previous years, CPD plans to increase police presence in crime hot spots in an effort to reduce the violence.

A former marine fighter pilot is looking to convince Donald Trump's supporters that she's a better representative for the state of Kentucky than Senator Mitch McConnell. Democrat Amy McGrath announced her candidacy this week ending the rumors about whether she'd step into the 2020 race. But McGrath is also rocking the boat with liberals. She told the Courier Journal this week she would have voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Hours later she had to walk back that statement.
