Being aware of and adapting to differences in cultures is critical to success in our growing global market.

Our changing workforce and expanding markets demand higher levels of cultural competence – the ability to shift cultural perspective and adapt behavior and communication style to successfully accomplish business results.

Being aware of and adapting to differences in cultures plays a critical role in all aspects of business, from attracting customers to hiring and retaining quality employees. Organizations that don't recognize these differences do exist, or are unwilling to adjust their messages and practices to account for those differences, will not remain competitive in our growing global market.

Building Cultural Competence, a program being offered by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, is designed to help area business and non-profit leaders develop skills for building bridges across our cultural, political and social divides.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss cultural competence are Mercy Fairfield at Mercy Health Chief Nursing Officer Ramona Cheek; Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber Vice President of Inclusion Mary Stagaman (@MStagaman); and US Bank Vice President and Customer Experience Manager Jim Reynolds.
