Kenton County, already busy cranking out start-up technology companies in Covington, is ramping up efforts to increase its tech footprint.
The County has contracted with Patrick Henshaw, Cintifuse Director of Development, to help expand the number of high-tech businesses.
"Overall, the strategic focus is to foster an environment that enables economic growth for tech and knowledge-based companies," according to Henshaw.
County Judge Executive Kris Knochelmann would like to see results in the next twelve to eighteen months. "We're really just at the process of really saying, 'Ok, what's the work plan and what's the time frame.'"
One success story is CTI, a clinical trials company located in RiverCenter. Henshaw says one selling point is there are six different fiber optic network providers that pipe into RiverCenter towers.
Knochelmann and Henshaw walked down Pike, around the corner to Innovation Alley, and into Innovation Network. They say Innovation Network and UpTech are key in jump starting the area's high tech businesses.
