Redevelopment of the Warren County fairgrounds is in full swing.

By the time the fair begins July 16, 2017, people will notice two new buildings on the 94-acre site. Construction on a third building, a 20-thousand square foot multi-purpose facility, will begin at the end of the fair.

The president of the county's agricultural society, Gene Steiner, says it replaces the demolished grandstand. "We're trying to build this to be as flexible as possible. We want to be able to service a 4H club in the county that may have 20 people and need a small room or up to 1,000 person event."

Steiner says the big multi-purpose building will be finished in the summer of 2018.

"We think it's important that we are a major cog of what helps build business in this community and I think as we work through this and get more activities going on there we are doing our part to make it happen," Steiner says.

He says the project is financed by money from the state. It's reimbursement for fairgrounds that lost horse racing and revenue from opening of racinos.
