Heroin Coalition Grows To Fight Drug On More Fronts

Just like the drug problem, the continues to grow.

The group welcomed two more representatives to its regular meeting Friday, The Health Collaborative, representing hospitals, and the , representing the faith community.

County Commissioner and member of the coalition Denise Driehaus says doctors are going to more closely monitor emergency room visits and link the addicted to long-term treatment.

Eventually she wants judges involved. "We have reached out to the court administrator to get the judges involved. Every time we have a meeting we think, oh my gosh we need to bring them to the table."

She says people are always asking how they can get involved. A May or June meeting is planned with actionable steps.
