Prescription Drug Prices

The Health and Human Services Secretary visited Cleveland Thursday night to discuss HHS priorities and answer questions from audience members.

The Federal Trade Commission says drug makers are gaming the system in order to keep drug prices high by filing what it describes as "junk patents".

As in the last legislative session, there are bipartisan bills in both the House and Senate to cap the cost of insulin at $35 for all Ohioans, not just those on Medicare.

The government will negotiate new prices for the commonly prescribed drugs, but the cuts won't take effect until 2026. In the meantime, drugmakers are fighting the negotiations with lawsuits.
