The opening of the community swimming pool is an indicator that summer is here.
With eight outdoor pools, Columbus has a few options to choose from.
But swimming does come with risk, especially for young kids. Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4.
During this hour of All Sides, we will talk about how Columbus is looking to better its pool experiences and the safety of those using them.
Plus, we will talk about the importance of swimming lessons and learning how to be safe in and around water.
And we’ll talk about safe swimming and water safety education around the country as well.
Guests:
- Marissa Angellatta, aquatics administrative manager, Columbus Recreation & Parks
- Brian Botzman, owner and head coach, Unified Aquatics Club
- Megan Ferraro, chair of the U.S. National Water Safety Action Plan/executive director of national water safety nonprofit, The ZAC Foundation
