Throughout history, why have women’s contributions to the world gone largely uncredited, been erased entirely or have otherwise been diminished in importance?
A new book explores that question while giving hundreds of unsung women their due.
There’s the legendary Hollywood actress Hedy La-Marr, credited today with inventing the technology that gave rise to Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi.
Another example is runaway slave Lucy Ann Walker, who used her clothesline to alert Union officers to Confederate troop movements.
Another notable example is scientist Mary Sherman Morgan who invented the rocket fuel that launched the first satellite into orbit.
We’re talking with Allison Tyra, author of the new book “Uncredited." She’s coming to Ohio later this week.
Guests:
- Allison Tyra, creator, Infinite Women/author, “Uncredited: Women’s Overlooked, Misattributed & Stolen Work,” (pre-taped)
- Jen Miller, executive director, League of Women Voters of Ohio
