A few short decades ago, you could count on two hands the ranks of international or world cuisine restaurants in Columbus. Steakhouses and sameness ruled the day.

Since the 1990s, everything has changed. Columbus has expanded its culinary horizons from Midwestern meat and potatoes to a lively and growing array of ethnic cuisines from Somalia, Ethiopia, Peru, El Salvador, Japan, and even Tibet.

The surge reflects a growing and vital community of new Americans in central Ohio, one that has returned vibrancy to different stretches of the city.

All Sides with Ann Fisher Weekend: Chefs In The City looks at the world of world cuisine in central Ohio.
