Free Community College In Columbus And Across The U.S.

Tuition-free community college stalled this fall, but the concept is alive and growing across the U.S.

President Biden dropped his free tuition plan for community college students in October in order to get his budget bill passed by Congress. But the lack of momentum at the federal level hasn’t slowed the growing free-tuition movement to get more high school students enrolled in two-year colleges.

Graduating seniors at Columbus City Schools will get the chance to attend Columbus State tuition-free under a new program called Columbus Promise. It’s a step toward leveling racial inequity and preparing young adults for a changing job market.
