The Republican National Convention got underway Monday, reaching party faithful across the country in a mostly virtual program.

President Trump and his allies used the first night of the convention to try to reframe the public narrative around his handling of the pandemic and his record on race relations, while conjuring dystopian visions of a Joe Biden presidency.
