Rihanna became the first black woman to lead a luxury fashion house in Paris when LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s largest luxury goods group, in May announced that her clothing brand, Fenty, would join its family.

That also makes Rihanna the first woman to create an original brand for the French conglomerate, and the first woman of color to head an LVMH house.

But that’s the exception, according to the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The group in January released the results of a survey that found 41% of respondents rated their fashion company 3 out of 5 on in-house diversity at their company.

Today on All Sides, bringing diversity to the world of fashion.
