Updated: 4:18 p.m., Aug. 28, 2019 Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has circulated draft legislation that could allow the state — not counties — to take the lead in lawsuits over the opioid crisis. The news comes as Purdue Pharma considers a settlement, reportedly valued at $10 billion to $12 billion, with more than 2,000 local governments suing drug companies over the opioid crisis.

DeWine Talks Tests, Improving COVID-19 Numbers After 'Roller Coaster Day'

Mike DeWine got a call from President Trump Friday afternoon after missing out on a meeting with the president Thursday. “I appreciated that very much,” DeWine said. “He wanted to see how I was doing and he said he had been told last night by the Secret Service that I actually tested negative. So, he was just calling to see how I was getting along. We had a good, good conversation.”
Funeral Services Set For Cleveland Pentecostal Bishop J. Delano Ellis II
Funeral services for Bishop J. Delano Ellis II will be held throughout the weekend, beginning with a public viewing from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Pentecostal Church of Christ in University Circle, where he served as senior pastor. Ellis died Saturday at the age of 75. Born in Pennsylvania, Ellis served at the Church of God in Christ in Memphis, Ten., for more than three decades prior to coming to Cleveland, where he inspired many in his congregation and the community.

Cleveland Hospitals Say Rise In Health Workers With COVID Could Impact Care
Updated 4:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 As the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to climb in Ohio, Cleveland-area hospital leaders are concerned about the growing number of health care workers who are out sick with the coronavirus. According to hospital officials, about 800 Cleveland Clinic employees, 200 at University Hospitals, and 60 MetroHealth staffers are out, making it more difficult to care for the rising number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Cuyahoga County.
