When the Bay Village City School District re-opened its schools for in-person classes Sept. 14 after starting the year virtually, 17-year-old Emma Spirollari, a senior at Bay High School, opted to return to campus. She didn’t mind remote learning, but she said, being back in the classroom feels more natural, despite the masks and plastic partitions around her desk.

University Of Akron Will Use Hybrid Learning Model For Fall Semester
The University of Akron will rely primarily on remote learning this fall semester, with limited in-person sessions and reduced class sizes. American Medical Association President: Safe, Effective Vaccines Take Time
American Medical Association President Dr. Susan Bailey said during a virtual City Club of Cleveland speech Friday that a vaccine remains “our best hope to defeat the pandemic.” But she cautioned that creating a good vaccine usually takes a long time. “We’re all incredibly eager for a vaccine to fight COVID-19, but if it’s not safe and it’s not effective it’s going to create more problems than it’ll solve,” she said.

Experts Divided On How New Federal COVID Relief Could Help Northeast Ohio
Congress is working on a second stimulus bill meant to boost the economy as the coronavirus pandemic continues. If the second round of help includes more $1,200.00 checks in your mailbox, lawmakers hope that extra cash will get folks spending again. But Northeast Ohio experts say while the money would be helpful for families, it won’t prevent a stumbling economy from falling over the edge.

Cleveland Health Department Can't Keep Up With COVID-19 Spike
The Cleveland Department of Public Health can't provide daily COVID-19 data because of the remarkably high number of coronavirus cases over recent days, said Mayor Frank Jackson. Jackson addressed the issue in a news conference Tuesday. He said there has been an unprecedented surge in coronavirus cases, and staff couldn’t analyze the data in time to release it daily, which is their usual schedule. "This is a reflection of this spike and how severe this spike is, and we are redeploying resources and adding resources,” Jackson said.
