Cleveland City Council President Kevin Kelley appointed the new committee this week. The group will research what to do about algal blooms, which can contain toxins that pollute drinking water.

The church determined the allegations against those 20 were likely true. Two more are on administrative leave while the church considers the accusations.

University Hospitals is consolidating, and its Elyria hospital will no longer offer labor and delivery services. The hospital system is moving birthing services from UH Elyria hospital to UH St. John Medical Center in Westlake, which is about 25 minutes away. The consolidation is not about saving money for the hospital, said UH Elyria Hospital President Kristi Sink.

The Cleveland Public Library (CPL) is reopening its doors to the public Monday, though restrictions will be in place to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The library is limiting visits to one hour and 15 minutes per person. Masks are required inside the building. As COVID-19 cases surge across Ohio, hospital officials continue to sound the alarm about staffing shortages due to health care workers being sick or quarantined wiith COVID-19. MetroHealth will temporarily close some of its regional health centers starting Dec. 7 to preserve staff members and redeploy some employees to other facilities due to the current COVID-19 surge, officials said. About 100 MetroHealth employees are currently out, a spokesperson said.
