Cleveland will be the home to Ohio’s second “innovation district,” a health-care focused, $565 million job-creation partnership with the city's three major hospitals and Case Western Reserve and Cleveland State universities. Gov. Under the amended city council legislation easily approved Monday night, a Cleveland working group will have until July 1, 2020, to propose possible citywide rules for disposable bags. That’s also when Cuyahoga County plans to begin collecting fines from retailers for giving out plastic bags to customers.

The 1.5 million-year-old fossils of human ancestors recently unearthed in Ethiopia show sophistication in behaviors and tool use, said the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) researchers who found them, despite one example having the smallest cranium of any specimen found in Africa to date. One Homo erectus female cranium found is a little less than half the size of our brains, said CWRU anatomy professor Scott Simpson, who worked with the team that discovered the fossils.

Georgia O’Keeffe is a rock star in the art world. A new exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art, “Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern” celebrates her as a celebrity, featuring her fashion and photos alongside her art. It may surprise some that O’Keeffe’s style of dress was more subdued than her bright paintings of flowers and landscapes. The exhibition curator, Wanda M. Corn, said that was by design.
