Matthew Dellavedova, from left, Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith emerged in the Cleveland Cavs Game 6 contest against the Chicago Bulls to win the game and the series.

Lebron James struggled and the injuries continued to pile up for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but somehow they banded together to eliminate the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night and advance to the NBA's Eastern Conference Finals.

For a look at how the Cavaliers role players and bench carried the team to a series win past the Bulls we spoke with Zach Meisel of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Cavs will face either the Atlanta Hawks or Washington Wizards in the Eastern Conference Finals, which will lstart on Wednesday.

Field Turf Health Concerns

Synthetic turf fields are popular in central Ohio and across the country, however there is a growing concern that the fields could be toxic and potentially causing cancer. The biggest concern with the turf fields, which can be seen at Ohio Stadium, is the use of crushed recycled tires that provide a cushion anchor the syntethic grass.

Jenifer McKim of the New England Center for Investigative Journalism found that there is growing pushback on the use of synthetic turf fields could be toxic.

While there is no direct link between the synthetic turf fields and cancer, at least 79 soccer goalies who have played on the turf fields have developed cancer.

For more information read McKim's article on the  New England Center for Investigative Journalism website.

College Recruiting of Eighth Graders

New York Times contributor Patrick Marks joins the show to discuss a growing trend of high school freshman receiving college scholarship offers. The latest case is Georgia eighth grader and linebacker Owen Pappo, who this week received a scholarship offer from Michigan. In recent weeks Pappo has also received scholarship offers from Auburn, Miami, Tennessee and Boston College.

And because we’re petty and couldn’t end the show with a Michigan segment, Steve and Thomas bring you an encore presentation of a previous segment. Martin Jarmond has a cool job: he’s in charge of scheduling all of the non-conference football games for Ohio State.
