Columbus foster mom ruled competent to stand trial in death of 5-year-old boy

A Franklin County judge ruled Monday a Columbus foster mom accused of killing a 5-year-old boy in her care in 2024 is now competent to stand trial.

Pammy Maye faces several charges, including aggravated murder, in the death of Darnell Taylor.

Maye's attorney, Sam Shamansky, said while his client is doing better, he plans to enter a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Maye remains at the Franklin County Jail where she is being held without bond.

No future court date has been set.
