Former Columbus police officer Adam Coy appeals murder conviction

Former Columbus police officer Adam Coy is appealing his murder conviction.

In July, Coy was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for shooting and killing Andre Hill, an unarmed Black man, at a northwest Columbus home in Dec. 2020. Hill had been invited to the home.

In November of last year, a jury found Coy guilty of murder, reckless homicide and felonious assault.

Coy filed his appeal with the 10th District Court of Appeals on Thursday.

He is currently being held at the Correctional Reception Center located in Orient, which is southwest of Columbus.
