The union representing Columbus City Schools teachers has reached a conceptual agreement on a new contract with the school district.
Columbus Education Association President John Coneglio told WOSU on Monday that teachers are scheduled to vote on the contract Thursday night.
The current three-year contract expires later this month.
Columbus school spokesman Mike Brown said in an email that the district is optimistic the school year will start on time. The first day of class is Monday, Aug. 25.
"Pending ratification by the CEA and approval by the Board of Education, the contract will go into effect at the start of the 2025-2026 school year," Brown said.
Columbus teachers went on strike for a week in August 2022 before agreeing to a deal. That gave them 4% pay raises for each year of the contract.
