A Columbus woman was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty on Tuesday to murder in the death of her 8-year-old son.

Lashanda Wilder, 33, will be eligible for parole in 15 years.

In June 2024, Wilder reported her son, Martonio Wilder, missing. She told police that she'd last seen the boy when she put him to sleep around 9:30 p.m. the previous night.

Police found the boy's body in a trash bag in the attic of her home in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood on June 28, 2024.

An autopsy showed Martonio Wilder died of asphyxia by neck compression.

Wilder also pleaded guilty in Franklin County Common Pleas Court to gross abuse of a corpse and theft.

Wilder's girlfriend, Johnna Lowe, was sentenced in June to life in prison after she pleaded guilty to murder in the boy's death.
