Gahanna Police shot and injured a man on Thursday morning at a home near the 300 block of Lincolnshire Road on the city's west side.

Police said they received a call about a suicidal person at 9:39 a.m. The first officer at the scene asked for 19-year-old Mahki McMillan to exit the home, but he did not.

During a Thursday afternoon press conference at Gahanna City Hall, Police Chief Jeffrey Spence showed police body cam video.

A woman outside the home tells officers that “he,” apparently McMillan, is angry about police being called.

The woman goes into the home and when police follow her, a person can be heard yelling almost immediately.

A man appears to say, “I will kill her.”

Police said that two officers then entered the house and found McMillan threatening relatives while armed with a knife.

Police also said the officers gave a dozen commands to McMillan to drop the knife. When he didn't, an officer fired his gun hitting McMillan.

McMillan was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition. No one else was injured.

McMillan is charged with felonious assault.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is examining the shooting, as it does with most police shootings in the state.
