Former Columbus City Schools teacher Robert Pea was sentenced Thursday to five years of probation for arranging to meet a teenage girl for sex in 2021, according to court documents.

Pea, 62, was a teacher at Northland High School at the time.

Pea pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of felony promoting prostitution in September in Judge Bill Sperlazza’s court in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

He was originally charged with compelling prostitution.

The Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force arrested Pea in October 2021.

Authorities said Pea contacted a minor through an online advertisement and engaged in sexual activity for hire.

As part of his sentence, Pea, of Columbus, must register as a Tier I sex offender and check in with his county of residence annually for the next 15 years.
