The Franklin County Board of Commissioners and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office hold another public town hall meeting Monday about the new body cameras recently purchased for deputies.
County commissioners approved $2.5 million for equipping deputies with body cameras shortly after the December 2020 shooting of Casey Goodson Jr. by now-former deputy Jason Meade. He was working with a SWAT team at the time and not wearing a camera when he shot Goodson several times just outside Goodson's home. He's since been charged with murder.
Twenty-five deputies started wearing the new devices this summer, with more scheduled to start this fall.
Not a single member of the public went to the first camera town hall meeting in May. The Monday meeting runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Columbus Downtown High School.
