The Ohio State University is allowing employees to take Election Day off to serve as poll workers.
Employees won’t have to use vacation time to take eight hours off Election Day to work the polls. As long as it is approved by a supervisor, part-time and full time staff and faculty can get paid a regular rate to work at a polling location.
Ohio State is one of Central Ohio’s largest employers, and spokesman Ben Johnson says that’s a huge asset during a pandemic election.
"We know that boards of elections need poll workers maybe more than ever before because of COVID 19 and we want to help out where we can," he says.
Ohio's election boards are asking for additional workers to help with curbside voting and other positions to make voting on Election Day safe.
