Some parents of Ohio State University football players are still pushing to reinstate the fall season that was suspended due to the ongoing pandemic.
The Football Parents at Ohio State and other family members of athletes will gather Saturday outside of Ohio Stadium. The group rallied outside the Big Ten Conference offices in Indianapolis last weekend.
In a Twitter post, the group says they want to be heard by Big Ten officials about their opposition to the changing football schedule, which was canceled for the fall with tentative plans of playing in the spring. They're asking for transparency and better communication with Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren.
Last week, Warren wrote an open letter that listed several reasons for postponing fall sports, saying that "transmission rates continue to rise at an alarming rate" and "there is simply too much we do not know about the virus, recovery from infection, and longer-term effects.”
More than 300,000 people have signed a petition from Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields asking the Big Ten to reverse its decision.
Big Ten officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
