Two new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Franklin County. The cases were confirmed by Franklin County Public Health on Sunday morning.
Both cases are outside of the city of Columbus, which reported its first case on Saturday.
The county health department said it is tracking down people these two individuals have come in contact with recentely.
“We certainly are doing all the contact tracing for both individuals... that’s an active investigation,” Franklin County Health Commissioner Joe Mazzola said on Twitter.
On Saturday, the Ohio Department of Health confirmed the state has 26 cases of the coronavirus.
“The first cases of COVID-19 in our health jurisdiction, though not a surprise are, however, a reminder for our residents to continue taking the necessary precautions to protect the health of themselves and their families,” Mazzola said.

The Ohio Department of Health makes the following recommendations to protect yourself from illness:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; dry hands with a clean towel or air dry hands.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
- Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick.
