Four Ohio State assistant football coaches will make more than $1 million this year.

According to USA Today, this marks the first time any football program will pay seven-figure salaries to that many assistants on one coaching staff.

Ohio State released salary numbers showing that defensive coordinators Kerry Coombs and Greg Mattison will make $1.4 million and $1.13 million, respectively, in the 2020-2021 season.

Defensive line coach Larry Johnson will make $1.13 million, and offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson will make $1.2 million.

Assistant coaches' salaries will be just under $8 million combined, an increase from $7.2 million last year.

Coach Ryan Day just got an extension that will bump his 2020 salary to $6 million.

Last year, the Buckeyes won their third consecutive Big Ten championship and advanced to the College Football Playoffs for the first time since 2016.
