Ohio State University officials say football player Nick Bosa is withdrawing from school and focusing on his upcoming career in the NFL.
Bosa followed in his brother Joey’s footsteps as an All-American defensive end for the Buckeyes. That is, until the third game of the 2018 season, when Bosa suffered what’s described as a core muscle injury. The injury looked bad from the outset, and Bosa's family quickly confirmed Bosa would miss at least most of the season.
It was long assumed that the junior Bosa would leave school early for the pros. Ohio State confirmed that Tuesday in a release saying Bosa plans to withdraw from classes to focus on getting ready for the NFL draft in April.
“I was hopeful that Nick would be able to return to play again for us,” Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said in the release. “I know this was an extremely difficult and emotional decision for Nick and his family, and I wish him well as he moves on to get himself 100 percent healthy and ready for his next chapter. I want to thank Nick for the remarkable efforts he gave for this program. He is a first-class young man who we have been honored to coach.”
Doctors say Bosa should make a 100 percent recovery from the injury. He’s still expected to be a top 10 draft pick.
