One man is dead and another charged with tampering with evidence after what the Columbus Division of Police calls an accidental shooting.
According to police, Kendall Daigle, 25, handed a loaded firearm to Muhammed Loum, 20, inside an apartment on Brendel Road on the city’s northwest side around noon Sunday.

Police say the gun somehow went off and struck Daigle. Medics transported him to a hospital and he died a short time later.

Police say Loum removed the gun from the scene, but no other details were provided. He’s charged with a felony count of tampering with evidence. Franklin County court records say Loum is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday morning.

Police say the death is Columbus’ 81st homicide of the year.
