The disciplinary arm of the Ohio Supreme Court suspended the law license of a Columbus attorney accused of stealing more than $35,000 from an elderly client who was living in a nursing home.
The court made the announcement in a short Monday brief saying John David Moore Jr. has been suspended from the practice of law for an interim period.
Moore is accused of taking money from a client while he served as their court-appointed guardian and depositing it into personal checking accounts. The court says Moore also did not tell the court his client had died until 18 months after their death.
Moore’s also accused of mishandling another guardianship case and neglecting other clients’ cases with actions such as failing to request one client’s record be expunged.
Moore was previously suspended by the Ohio Supreme Court in 2015 for failing to register with a state office. He was later reinstated.
Moore did not immediately respond to requests for comments made to his Cleveland Avenue office.
