Columbus police are investigating after finding the body of Payton Elizabeth Young, who has been missing since January 21, in the Scioto River on Monday.

The Columbus Police dive team and Special Victims Bureau detectives pulled Young's body from the river near Hayden Run Falls Park on the northwest side of Columbus. It's the same area where Young went missing last month.

Seventeen-year-old Young was a junior at Bishop Watterson High School, but was listed as an endangered runaway and reported missing by her family in January. Police found her car in the park soon after.

Young's disappearance sparked multiple online search campaigns, with her family calling for her to return.

The area around the Scioto River had been previously searched, but on Thursday, cadaver dogs zoned in on an area under the Hayden Road bridge.

Police are working with the Franklin County Coroner's Office to determine a cause of death. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit is asking anyone with information regarding the incident call 614-645-4730 or 645-TIPS (8477).
