Search crew in northwest Wyoming, have found a 16-year-old Olentangy High School student and her adult sisters.
Searchers have found three Midwestern sisters who were missing for days in a northwest Wyoming wilderness area.
Search spokeswoman Lori Iverson said Thursday that the three are cold and hungry but otherwise healthy. Officials have said they are experienced trekkers who were well-prepared for a backcountry trip.
Iverson says the three were spotted by a helicopter about 10 a.m. Thursday in Bridger-Teton National Forest, about 25 miles southeast of the resort town of Jackson.
The search began Tuesday after the sisters failed to return from their backcountry excursion. Iverson says they left on June 28 and were scheduled to be in Chicago on Tuesday.
The sisters are 25-year-old Megan Margaret Andrews-Sharer of Milwaukee; 22-year-old Erin Andrews-Sharer of Columbus, Ohio; and 16-year-old Kelsi Andrews-Sharer, also of Columbus.
The three sisters were cold and hungry but healthy.
The Teton County Emergency Management Office issued an alert Wednesday morning asking for help from its county residents in finding 25-year-old Megan Margaret Andrews-Sharer, 22-year-old Erin Elizabeth Andrews-Sharer and 16-year-old Kelsie Moriah Andrews-Sharer.
Searchers have found the SUV the sisters are thought to have driven to the trail head where they were hiking.
According to the alert, the sisters were last known to be traveling around the area in a black 2008 Saturn Vue with Wisconsin license plate 482WAH.
Teton County officials said the sisters are believed to be staying within a half hour of the Moose area per relatives. They left for their trip on June 28 and were to return Tuesday.
Teton County sheriff's deputies and park rangers searched through the night Tuesday for the sisters, Lt. Slade Ross of the Teton County Sheriff's Office said.
Ross said searchers on Wednesday afternoon found the SUV the three drove at a wilderness trailhead in the Bridger-Teton National Forest near Granite Creek in the Hoback Canyon.
Ross told the Jackson Hole News & Guide that the three did not tell family specifically where they were going. The sisters were described as relatively experienced in back country hiking and camping.
They have camping gear with them, including a green and tan three-person dome tent and blue and tan sleeping bags. Per relatives, the three were believed to have five days worth of food with them that was purchased on June 28.
An online public records database lists Megan Andrews-Sharer's address in Milwaukee. A news release from Ross said all three sisters are from Wisconsin.
Every agency in the area, including Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks, has been notified of the missing sisters.
