Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther said Friday that it’s ‘a moment of great pride for the city.’ COSI will open 22,000 square feet of new exhibition space to prehistoric artifacts from the American Museum of Natural History.

Officials were only half-joking when they described the footprint of the new exhibitions as “huge.”

“I am pleased to announce that COSI and the American Museum of Natural History have formed a first-of-its-kind partnership that will bring dinosaurs to our downtown,” said Mayor Ginther.

A dinosaur gallery is expected to open a year from now, showcasing the American Museum of Natural History’s renowned dinosaur exhibits.  COSI will host rotating Natural History Museum exhibitions beginning in February, 2018.

Presiding over today’s ceremonies, a 40-foot-long, 12-foot-high model of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
